Spread Some Love to Those Around You

Neighbor-tine Cards

By Cynthia Magana February 8, 2021

Think back to one year ago in February.  Most of your kids were sitting in classrooms - doing their normal daily routines.  On February 14th, students at numerous schools were passing out Valentine Cards and candies to their friends.  Some even with the little shy smile and embarrassed looks as they approached their classroom crush.  Celebrating Valentine's Day this year will look a bit different.  Your kids won't be passing out cards as they typically did in the past.  So why not make this years Valentine's  day about your neighbors?  Most of you, I'm sure, know at least a couple of neighbors.  But what about the neighbors you don't know personally.  Do they have kids?  Do they live alone?  Do you wave to all your neighbors when you see them even if you don't know thr names?  Put a smile on their face.  Buy some Valentine cards or make your own and pass them out to your neighbors.  Now, I'm not saying to give hugs or hand shakes these days, but maybe put the cards in their mailboxes or just drop them off on the doorstep, no need to knock.  For the children who live on your street, personalize them with the kiddos names if you know them.  They would love to know you are thinking of them.  I would highly recommend if you are leaving candy or something edible on a non-personalized card, include your name or address on the card (from your friendly neighbors at 1234 Your Street). This way they don't automatically toss it in the trash worrying about who left it.

And don't forget, Valentines Day is on Sunday February 14th.  XOXO
